Instructor Development Program

The Instructor Development Program prepares individuals selected by you to become internal resources who are able to deliver the same training and support offered by Avant Hospitality Service Advisors on an ongoing basis for your organization. This allows you to become self-sufficient and have instant and continuous access to the training and coaching your managers and supervisors need to ensure service standards continue to be achieved.

Objectives

Your internal resources will be able to:

  • Facilitate Foundations workshops for new managers and supervisors.

  • Continue the on-the-job coaching and support of managers and supervisors started by Avant Hospitality Service Advisors trainers.

  • Adapt the techniques and skills to design and facilitate other management development sessions.

  • Act as a resource for senior management by focusing on all service delivery issues within the organization.

Who Should Attend?

Attendees can include quality assurance managers, guest service managers, human resource directors, directors of training, training managers, or any manager/supervisor from an operational department who demonstrates strong people skills and a natural ability to carry out field training.

Method

As detailed below, the Instructor Development Program has these primary components:

  • Participation in our Instructional Techniques Seminar

  • Certification to run the Foundations workshop.

  • Participation in Practices on-the-job training with our instructor.

  • Certification to conduct Practices.

  • Participation in the Promises Instructor Development and Certification.

Instructional Techniques Seminar

This course is at the core of the Avant Hospitality Service Advisors development process. It focuses on the basic techniques of instruction combined with practical training structures. The participants are given skills needed to instruct, centered on these disciplines:

  • Developing content of sessions.

  • Handling of presentation equipment.

  • Facilitating group discussion.

  • Presentation skills.

  • Handling of an individual's needs.

  • Preparation of materials and session plans.

We analyze each of the modules of the Foundations workshop from an instructor's perspective. Exercises, role plays, and the methodology that best help the trainee learn are also discussed.

Participants are assigned modules to prepare and conduct in front of the group. Each participant is critiqued by the group on the specific skill areas of instruction. Later, they receive one-on-one feedback from our instructor.

Foundations Certification

Each participant is allotted time to complete his or her final preparation and agree upon a date to co-facilitate a Foundations workshop with our instructor at one of your properties. We will assess skill levels at that time to determine whether requirements have been met or if additional co-facilitation workshops should be scheduled.

Practices Certification

After the participant is certified to conduct the Foundations workshop, our instructor works side by side with the participant in Practices on-the-job training. During this period, the participant develops the skills needed to serve as a coach, trainer, and mentor for department managers and supervisors as they conduct their ongoing training activities. The participant will be certified in Practices when our instructor determines he or she is able to carry on these responsibilities effectively to achieve the desired client results.

Promises Instructor Development and Certification

In addition to the Foundations and Practices certification, Avant Hospitality Service Advisors offers the option to train and certify your internal resource to conduct the Promises workshop. Although it can be conducted independently of Foundations and Practices training and certification, Promises Instructor Development and Certification is designed to complement them and is best scheduled after the participant has been certified in those programs.

The objectives and method are the same as Foundations, however, the training and certification period are shorter, generally one week.
